Top 5 AMAZING fan interactions at the Conque Comic Con in Queretaro Mexico:
1. Twelve year old kid that looked just like a young me asked for me to review his work. I gushed about how super inventive and bursting with life it was. He admitted his name was Jorge too. We both teared up.
2. Girl named Frida thanked me for making her and her name cool at her school thanks to El Tigre. She said thanks to the show she found herself and her inner bad ass. We both teared up.
3. Older woman told me how her husband, who had passed away from lung cancer, saw The Book of Life and promised he would wait for her in the Land of the Remembered. She said she can’t wait to see him again. We both teared up.
4. A little boy, who’s mom had passed away from leukemia, and his dad told me who much the film had meant to them and their baby sister. The mom was named Carmen Sanchez. We all teared up.
5. And finally, the thing I LOVED the most, by people of all ages, was getting a giant and heartfelt thank you for always being proud of being Mexican and making it my life’s mission to showcase the beauty of our culture. I teared up every single time.
