Maybe this was the first trip that they allowed her the choice of staying or going, as she was 15/16 at that time, and she decided to stay at home. This choice could have come from Anna’s subconscious need to be with Elsa, despite their lack of relationship.

Maybe Anna stayed at home because she thought, during this two week period, maybe, just maybe, Elsa might finally open that bedroom door.

And there’s a tiny possibility that Elsa may have done so. She may have taken the opportunity of her parents absence to finally communicate with her little sister again, perhaps even spill her secret!

But that possibility drowned with the King and Queen of Arendelle, with Elsa blaming herself and these sinful thoughts for her parents’ deaths. Anna was all she had left, she couldn’t hurt her too. No. Never again.
