Important Writing Advice

fandomsallaroundme

Everyone gets negative reviews. Everyone.

You know that awesome fanfic writer whose stories you’ve read a dozen times on your phone in the dark the night before school? They’ve got them by the dozens.

You know that world-renowned author whose books are all lined up on your shelf? You bet your ass people criticize their stuff every day.

You know that lovely little one-shot you read in the middle of your break? That has at least three unhappy customers who bothered to clutter up the page with their cynical hogwash.

People actually write essays, whole papers on how contrived and mediocre Shakespeare’s sonnets and plays are.

There is no pleasing everyone. It’s just impossible. Your style of writing just might not appeal to certain people, and they might be rude or careless enough to tell you that in incredibly insulting ways.

That’s okay. Be polite. Stay classy. Sweep the clutter away, accept the constructive stuff, ignore the unnecessary hatred, and keep on writing. For every person who drops hate on your story, there are twenty more who absolutely adore your writing but didn’t know how to put their love into words for a review.

Write your stories, and don’t let anyone tell you to stop.
