I can’t believe Zack Snyder would take the armor from the Amazon’s and make it into midriff bearing boob cup armor!

Oh…wait…this is from Wonder Woman? In one of the opening scenes? During the training ground when they’d be wearing armor?

Listen, calling out sexist bullshit is a+, just make sure it’s accurate.

  2. beauthemonk said: Does it matter that Wonder Woman had these ‘awful costumes’ Does it matter justice had the 'good costumes’ Does it matter that the actors themselves had no issue with it? Does it matter that not one shot sexualizes an Amazon (unless you count dying to protect their Queen/the world) Does it matter that, given context of the film maker, the 'sexist costume for horny men’ point rings hollow? Nope. Not at all apparently.
  3. beauthemonk said: The point that Zack threw away good costumes for ‘sexy’ ones is pointed out to be bullshit, since not only was the classic armor in the movie on multiple characters but the midriff shirt is in the Wonder Woman movie, the movie praised for having a woman designing the clothes. Nothing about pointing out the hypocrisy of that stance has anything to do with me being 'frustrated with women’
  4. beauthemonk said: Alright, first off, stop with the strawman bullshit. Going on about Weinstein and how I’m fed up with women calling shit out, fuckin’ read my post. My whole point from the beginning is people shit on Zack SnYder for every little thing. And you are apart the cinema sins school of film ‘critique’ where every little nitpick you can find is blown to the level of film-ruining terribleness. It’s tired, and it’s uninteresting.
  5. overwhelmsion said: In that second to last bubble I meant to say “ but only NOW women are making their complaints heard”.
  6. overwhelmsion said: … UNLIKE Jenkins’ who did a phenomenal job in the WW movie. So that whole sequence was stupid and ugly not because she was saving people (the fuck????) but because it was presented in a rushed, un-badass in my opinion, weird coloring, weird pace, weird dialogue, weird movement manner.
  7. overwhelmsion said: Action movies are sexist but only know women are making their complaints heard. Sorry not sorry. Your last paragraph has a few mistakes but I think I know what you mean… you “accidentally” went to my blog lol I don’t care if you did or not, in fact I’d expect anyone I’m having an argument with to do so but… if you had reading comprehension skills you’d understand that what I have a problem with is the filming style not the action of saving people… how the style was
  8. overwhelmsion said: … as I’ve been trying to say, it makes exactly ZERO sense for their bellies to be exposed other than for “wow they look hot” purposes… which should/would not be a priority in a warrior culture. No I’m not a nitpicker you’re just frustrated with women complaining of legitimate things that have been going on for so long… it’s kinda like the Weinstein thing, “everyone” knew it was happening but only now it’s being heard of and given a stage. “Everyone” knows most…
  9. overwhelmsion said: …Exposed? No, because it’s a proven vulnerable spot, bullets, arrows, lances, etc., are equally as deadly. I don’t give 2 single shits what happened in 300, different movie. Now the point about real life greeks? We don’t really actually know what they wore or not and how effective it was, I’m talking about a movie and universe created by people who get to CHOOSE what happens. The amazons having unnecessary skin exposed IS completely an issue because
  10. overwhelmsion said: My point wasn’t that they should have armor for bullets, that’s not what I was primarily focusing on but rather something that would support part of what I was saying. I’m sorry you had to train in full gear with pads every single time… I mean even doing laps or certain strength training exercises?? Anyways I think my point stands, you just don’t want to give in to someone else’s perspective and realize what they’re actually saying. Should the amazons have their belly

  13. beauthemonk said: you are amongst the group that just love to find the most tiny little things to point to as terrible for whatever reason. i accidentally went to your blog and saw you whining about how WW saving people in JL is bad because it was in Jenkins’ style. Like dude. C'mon.
  14. beauthemonk said: The 300 point was about being accurate, Greek soldiers (like the Amazons are, in case you didn’t actually watch it) wore more free armor which allowed them more movement, sort of the direct opposite of knights. 300 and WW aren’t really that different and the Amazons having skin exposed is the biggest non-issue ever
  15. beauthemonk said: Your point being they should have armor for bullets and then going ‘oh well most of them are covered’ like…little tiaras aren’t going to help taking a kar98k round to the eye socket. Yes, I did play sports and not once did we practice out of uniform, because that’s the whole point, to be game ready. It makes no sense to not train for battle in the shit you’re gong to wear to battle.
  16. overwhelmsion said: Oh and they wore headgear too…
  17. overwhelmsion said: Also most of the amazons in the WW movie had bracelets that covered most of their forearms, knee/thigh high boots (or at least they were shin straps), leathered skirts with long pieces that covered most of their thighs, chest mostly covered… did you actually watch the Wonder Woman film???
  18. overwhelmsion said: …think that it makes any sense. Literally being warriors is their main occupation so… they would know what’s restrictive and what’s not. Also, this shouldn’t blow your mind but there is a way of modifying costumes in a way that the abdomen is still covered so they can still have mobility … like a loose cloth at the very least. Ok saying the “300” actors weren’t sexualised?? Sorry dude think again… … …
  19. overwhelmsion said: Have you ever… played sports? Did you wear the full protective gear while training? Did you chill out by the sidelines while someone else practices their horse tricks (which I’m pretty sure that’s where the pic in the post comes from)? Idk, I’m asking, maybe you haven’t… but I have so I know that it makes sense to be comfy and unbothered when training. And also, a race of warrior women would not make their battle gear to be restrictive when worn so idk why you’d

  25. beauthemonk said: @pueya755โ€‹ just as much as the Amazons do. Neither are sexualized and both shown to be capable, honorable warriors which loops back around to my original point manufactured outrage 101
  26. beauthemonk said: @pueya755โ€‹ the armor you love. They should therefore, by your logic, be wearing Iron Man armor. Nor, do you take in the context that the actresses needed more mobility to do the badass scenes they had, which comes straight from them not some arm chair costume director. You as well ignore that ancient greek soldiers often had exposed areas for the same fuckin’ reason, which is why all the dudes in 300 are wearing whitey tighties and not much else, and they kick ass
  27. beauthemonk said: @pueya755โ€‹ a wasted effort because the ‘full’ armor is much more restrictive, if they trained in their not armor they’d be surprised and hindered if they weren’t used to battling in their armor. Therefore, in WW we see Amazons in the tummy/boob cup training, no issue, but it’s an issue in JL because ??? As for your point on it not making sense they’d have midriff shots after getting show in WWI, then it doesn’t make sense they’d have exposed legs/arms/chest/face like
  28. beauthemonk said: @pueya755โ€‹ you’re not terribly good at the whole logic thing, are ya? You posit that the armor worn by (some) Amazons is sexist because of course men ruin everything, or Zack Snyder is awful, or whatever, then ignore that those costumes are pretty much in WW, negating both those points. Then you say ‘oh well they’re relaxing’ expect they are on the training ground where that also makes no sense, because training in something one would not wear to battle is…
  29. overwhelmsion said: .. and to guard a mother box (which they knew who would come looking for it so… they would be in armor around that thing all the time)… NO, there is absolutely zero reason for their costumes to look that way… ESPECIALLY when there are costumes ALREADY MADE for the exact same actresses.
  30. overwhelmsion said: You just answered yourself… the issue isn’t that the amazons would have different looks and armors, the issue is that they would not construct their own armor that they actually wear to battle with exposed tummies (especially after encountering the german’s guns/bullets… like we saw 2 amazons die onscreen from bullets to the abdominal area in Wonder Woman). So in a culture that is 100% female, where women MAKE everything, including the clothes they wear into battle..
  31. beauthemonk said: @pueya755 yeah cuz training in ‘relaxed fit’ will totally be helpful if they’re attacked and then realize moving in armor is different. That makes so much more sense than Amazons wear more one that type of fucking clothing.
