Not to rain on anybody’s parade, but I’d prefer it if DCEU stans wouldn’t try to hold the annoucement of the Deadshot, Gotham City Sirens and Black Adam movies over the heads of strawman Marvel fans as a sign of how “diverse” and “daring” the DCEU is being, especially considering two things:

1.) Marvel went though a similar period around mid-2014 (peak post “Winter Soldier” popularity) where they announced a slew of more diverse movies like Nick Fury, Black Widow, Namor and whatnot (this was kinda where the whole “on your left DC” thing started), and NONE of those ended up panning out so y'all can stop acting like the company that’s struggling to keep the Batman and Flash movies afloat is going to fully invest in a Deadshot spin-off.

2.) DC kinda lost the “diversity” edge that they were going for when Suicide Squad ended up being one of the most racist movies in recent memory, and it’s going to take more than a Black Adam movie that has a 30% chance at being made to the diversity angle viable again.

They did and They would not shut the fuck up about it for a very long time, always taking shots at DC, even when DC did similar things (Everyone who bragged about Kamala Khan conveniently forgot about Simon Baz who existed more than a year before hand). So consider this karma.

Is this the ‘’stereotype’’ bullshit argument again? Because I’ve heard that before and thought it was stupid then. If you want to say that They’ve had some pratfalls in terms of diversity, I’ll absolutely agree but no more serious than Marvel had (Repeatedly killing off major non-white and female characters in Their TV shows for shock value, for example, and some of the writing on Daredevil). I’ll happily call out WB for some of the mistakes They’ve made in terms of diversity but calling it ‘’one of the most racist movies in recent memory’’ is a bit much.

I’d also disagree completely with the assessment that the company is ‘’struggling’’ to keep Flash and Batman afloat.

I’d also add that DC/WB announced a Wonder Woman movie and then made it unlike Marvel with Black Widow so we know we can trust Them. That’s not a shot at Marvel as I’m sure there were very good reasons as to why They didn’t but the argument that it won’t pan out doesn’t take that difference into account.

Um…Marvel never announced any of those films. They probably still don’t even have all the rights to Namor? One of the reasons folks joke about Marvel is the fact that they’ve never fully committed to Black Widow.

Suicide Squad being racist? Go home, man…
