Rick Astley - Keep Singing

Something I think we sometimes fail to address, in a post-Rick-Roll era, is the powerful vocals that Mr. Astley possesses. While it can be hard to separate the painful memory of being sent here when you were told there would be nudes, there’s no denying that there is a rich and powerful texture to Astley’s voice.

The once dance-pop star, who is 50 this year, hasn’t released a new album in 11 years. And while this video is a little trite, its scenery a little too self-congratulatory, the song carries itself. Astley croons, sliding across his vocal range, until you reach that catchy chorus. He finds himself at home in the new era of catchy pop ballads.

I gotta say too, Astley is aging well. You can keep singing, I won’t give you up.
