I want out of the mcu:
the mcu is still racist, homophobic and misogynist as hell in 2016.
captain marvel is only happening because the dccu is releasing wonder woman next year, they have pushed captain marvel by another year for the ant man sequel - another male lead SEQUEL takes the priority over the first female lead movie. they won’t make a black widow movie “because it won’t be successful.” women are still dying for the sake of manpain, elektra in season 2 of daredevil is the latest one (even if she comes back she still died for matt’s grief). hope van dyne should’ve had the ant-man suit for the love of god not scott. if a [white] man dies, he will come back to life: loki and phil coulson - but if a woman dies she will stay dead: queen frigga and gwen stacy. phil coulson was made the new director of shield insead of someone much more capable like maria hill, who was in the comics. everything that happened to natasha’s character in age of ultron was completely destroyed for the sake of bruce banner.
there’s no representation, we’re only just getting the first PoC lead movie (black panther) in 2018. in agents of shield they killed tripp because??? dr. strange casting was whitewashed, but that’s not new to the mcu. interracial relationships get completely erased: jessica x luke and matt x claire. karen page is written from a white feminist standpoint: she got ben killed, then took his job with no qualifications (and his car) and when she was kidnapped in that bus, she gets the black man next to her to put his life at risk and is almost dismembered because of her.
all the lgbt+ characters in the mcu always die or get treated like shit (the hogarths from jessica jones for example), or don’t even exist, which is why I can’t even write much in this section because marvel hates diversity.
I’ve probably missed some, but you get the point.
