Am I the only one who felt slightly disgusted by the new comic? :/

Not at all.

Disgusted doesn’t even begin to cover it. Against my better judgement I try to give every issue of Harley Quinn a chance. (Its my policy that you can’t really hate something and argue against it if you don’t at least know it in some degree. I’m about to abandon that policy.) I try to look for glimmers of Harley or something remotely amusing or true to character, because fuck I miss her. But this issue? Any good that could have possibly been in it is dwarfed by the out of character, fan fiction shit show that was Harley’s interaction with Joker.

I get it. You want to tell the story of a woman moving past her abuser. You drove that home again and again and again. “Years away” “supportive friends” etc etc… GOOD. People need a story like that. But not at the sake of completely writing several characters as they’ve never been written before. They wrote Joker as some douchebaggy, sexual predator - when has Joker EVER been a sexual predator? They have him kissing her to try and win her back, when he typically completely shies away from her affections. He relies on his words and charm to win her back.  Ugh, just every word out of Joker’s mouth was wrong. It felt forced. It didn’t feel like Joker at all. Joker’s an abusive jerk, yes, but he’s not whatever they tried to make him. But because nearly no one supporting this shit understands (or even TRIES to understand) who Joker is and how his character is they cheer and shout “JUSTICE!!” and shower praise upon it. Just because its a woman kicking the shit out of a man who abused her. It doesn’t matter if nothing is in line with decades of character history or interaction (Seriously. Harley has left his ass before. Harley has beaten his ass before. And it all felt right and true to character on all parts)
All that matters is people saw some abusive creepy jerk get his ass handed to him while Harley flirts up a storm with OOC Ivy and her Boy Toy of the Month.

There’s a line where Harley states she just wanted to talk to him, but every time they get together it ends in violence - pinning the blame for the bloody battle on him. But honestly, this ‘Harley’ has been ten times more violent than Harley has ever been from the start at every moment in her comic. An airline clerk is slightly rude to her? She murders her and stuffs her into a suitcase. The violence is all her, he didn’t push her into it. The writing team can’t even keep their story for Harley and how she acts and who she is straight.
