If you weren’t so terrified of being wrong on the internet maybe you wouldn’t have been so hyper defensive about responding. I would have been like “I retract and correct my statement, thank you for the correction.” If you were making an honest joke then it was an honest mistake. There is absolutely no need for that kind of hostility towards someone making an honest correction.
