Listen, if we’re talking about Harley Quinn, if you’re idea of making her “independent” is having her in a love triangle, don’t make Deadshot the “nice guy”, don’t make Joker the “asshole” that she’s already with, and don’t make her “independence” be her ability to leave the asshole and go to the nice guy. Fuck that shit.
Also, you know what? Don’t fucking make her “independence” her ability to not need a relationship. Fuck that shit too.
This is goddamn Suicide Squad. I want characters that I hate but I love, and I ABSOLUTELY want that from Harley.
You know, seeing as we see her transformation from being a psychiatrist to being mentally insane, seeing as we see how the Joker changes her for this worse, I want to see the Deadshot bullshit be some one-sided, super messed up obsession, and to see her independence be her demanding respect the only way she can from Joker.
I want to see her starting a bloody goddamn fight with him when he disrespects her, I want to see shit break and blood flow and then the two of them fucking on top of the wreckage.
Give me fucked up villains doing fucked up things that make me uncomfortable; don’t give me the same shit I can see a million times elsewhere under the disguise of being a “villain movie”.
Harley can be independent, but she can still be independent while being a sidekick.
