I noticed something very interesting about the comics fandoms. Comics are so extensive that you often see people who are “experts” in one very specific area. There’s just no way to know it all, so you have someone who knows everything about Jason Todd but not much about anything else. You have someone who could name off every appearance of Catwoman but has no clue who Stephanie Brown is.

And these people often feel bad that they don’t know everything. But like I said, there’s just no way. You don’t look down on a cardiologist when he can’t name all the parts of the eye. Because even though they’re both on the human body, you know he specializes in hearts, not eyes. And that’s kinda what the comics fandoms are like. Fans are like different types of doctors. Just because the cardiologist only knows about hearts doesn’t make him a “fake doctor”. Just because you only know about one character doesn’t make you a fake fan. You have people who “specialize” in different areas and everyone helps each other out. When you don’t know something you call up your friend the Nightwing specialist and they know the answers.  And I think that’s just really cool.
