I hate this. I hate this because this makes it seem like nazism isn’t still a problem in Germany which. it. is. antisemitism and islamophobia are on the rise in Germany and fun fact!!! neo-nazis there have adopted to confederate flag as their symbol as they can’t raise the nazi one so let’s stop lauding Germany as some anti racist progressive paradise methinks
Where did anyone say that Germany was completely free of racism, Islamophobia or antisemitism? I am a black man born in the South and the point is that, at the very least, Germany has laws on the books that outlaw the Nazi flag, and by contrast, the U.S. does not have similar laws regarding the Confederate flag. Germany frankly admits in it’s history books that they were on the wrong side of history in WWII, and again, by comparison, American text books do not explicitly say that the Confederacy was wrong in theirs with the Civil War. It is possible to recognize these basic facts without “lauding Germany as some anti racist progressive paradise”
