we need to talk spoilers - ‘oh, just ask garnet!’
so i’m sure i’m far from the only one who’s entertained the thought of garnet knowing about rose’s death before everyone else, due to her future vision. i’d always assumed it’d be a devastating realization for her, but she’d accept it out of respect for rose and understanding of her motives.
but she wouldn’t want to lose rose, would she?
then why was SHE the one who all but singlehandedly pushed rose and greg into a serious relationship?
well, we haven’t been told the exact workings of garnet’s future vision. for all we know, she can only see three weeks ahead at most. maybe she just thought greg was a good dude and that he and rose would make a cute couple, and it wasn’t until years later that she realized where that relationship would inevitably lead.

garnet knew from the start. she saw: the joy the relationship – even with its ultimate manifestation – would bring greg and rose, steven’s birth paving the path for saving not only humanity but quite possibly their fallen gem comrades, the way amethyst and pearl would grow in her absence and become healthier, stronger people. the light steven would bring into their lives, and the love their little makeshift family would share.
we’ve seen how rose’s death has torn up pearl and amethyst inside, but so far, never garnet. of course, garnet is much more reserved and put-together than the other two – it’s possible it’s something that will only surface later for her.
but maybe it won’t. maybe she’s at peace with it.
maybe she’s been at peace with it for a very long time.
