oh my god so I’ve always thought Xibalba had no legs because I’ve always imagined his lower torso to be merely made out of tar and no bones or stuff

and then, and THEN

I asked captain-macaron about her idea and she told me that she believed he had legs because of this scene

AND IT CHANGES EVERYTHING OH MY GOD watch this clip and listen closely when he walks on the floor towards Manolo and I mean it just do it you can audibly hear his steps oh ym god I still can’t believe it

Headcanon that normally he doesn’t have legs—there are scenes where he’s floating/flying and he actually seems to end in a tail thing—but he can shapeshift, so he probably can shapeshift to legs. For the above scene, still can’t visibly see legs, but can hear footsteps; so he could have shifted to legs, or something that would make the noise of footsteps, he just wants that sound effect for a certain mood (maybe even multiple legs like an insect, just can’t really see what’s going on underneath there).

Like to headcanon that Xibalba normally doesn’t have legs, since I also headcanon that La Muerte normally doesn’t have legs either—and that’s based on the art book saying that La Muerte’s model literally had no legs, adding to her unique and supernatural movements.
