some el chamuco ideas
ok, so he’s a devil, obviously, and i took what jorge said about him being la muerte’s “old flame” a bit too literally…and i was looking up churro charro suits the other day and i absolutely love the silhouette of the little jacket and the tight pants. i also channeled a bit of hellboy and hannibal chau’s dark ass goggles and gold clanging shoe swagger. i love the idea of the pitch black burned out eyes…
i also picture him as being pansexual and one of his favorite pasttimes is to make straight men question their sexuality or at least make them squirm as he gets all up in their personal space. (i can just imagine him teasing young xibalba mercilessly when they were rivals for la muerte)
i imagine he’s very into deals and contracts and was delighted to land the co-rulership of a level of the underworld, even one as obscure as land of the unknown, because he’s one of over 600 children of el diablo’s and unlikely to inherit much if anything of spanish hell. I think he’d be 100% espana and not from mexico at all, but enjoys the southern climate and the women and the food too much to ever return.
i gave him awesome facial hair because fuck everyone in that movie had great facial hair, and maybe long eyebrows and waxed mustaches are la muerte’s type :P
meant to be a big contrast to la noche, although they’d both be very into deals and wagers and using mortals as playthings. he loves the way both sisters play hard to get, although in la muerte’s case it’d prolly be genuine disgust at how he treats others, but la noche would totally be into his mind games and gossip.
at first perhaps la muerte thought he was funny and passionate and enjoyed wagering with him, but as time went on she found him overbearing, malicious, arrogant and sadistic. and although an outsider would have said the same about xibalba, la muerte could see that xibalba’s bitterness and mood came from a place of deep hurt that perhaps love could heal.
