Lets please remember everything this movie could have been if RDJ and Kevin Feige would have just kept their grubby hands off it.
I was just discussing with the housemate how they could have so easily, so easily, done Cap 3 without the Civil War aspect. Keep Black Panther because he’s amazing, and take out all the other Avengers save Sam, and maybe a few appearances from Nat. Add back in Maria and Nick. Instead the movie is a cat and mouse game with Zemo, where Nick suspects Zemo is playing them all but can’t seem to pin down what he’s after (because Peggy has passed on before he could ask her some Important Questions about Howard’s death). T’challa is struggling with his desire for revenge against a framed Bucky; Sam and Steve are struggling to balance being Avengers with this whole Situation. And the film actually ends with Zemo finding what he wants, so you get a sort of ‘we stopped him from releasing the other soldiers, we win’ vibe, but Zemo escapes with the information he wanted (I did love how T’challa got justice for his father, so perhaps it’s Crossbones in that role, because I wouldn’t want to see it erased). And then you can do actual Civil War as Avengers 3, which is something else wherein Zemo shows up to throw a wrench into it all when he reveals Bucky’s part in Tony’s parents’ murder.
That could be an Avengers 3 which makes sense and has a real feel of ‘breaking up the band’, and properly addresses the whole political aspect of the Avengers, and heads into Infinity War with a notion of ‘we have to come back together to stop this’ without hijacking a Cap film for RDJ’s wallet and still getting 1) a proper T’Challa intro, 2) loads more Sam and Bucky interaction, 3) A CAP MOVIE.
Ugh. We could have had so much more.
Some people will say this is fake. There’s an interview with the Russo’s who even said that Cap 3 was changed cause of Batman v Superman. That even had the same ‘Feige made us do it’ line behind it.

Not that I expect Them to see that. People are remarkably flexible when it comes to bullshit about these films.
