Ok so I saw this stupid post flying around and I’m just like….ok no!
Let me tell you why I think it was a bad post. First, people are blindingly reblogging applauding Wonder Woman because……VAGINA! Second, it’s a huge slap to the face for Superman lovers for both men and women! The original post just felt sexist and misinformed.
Superman is highly skilled in Kryptonian martial arts, has had training in boxing, and has had batman train him in martial arts. Now you think a person like Superman, who’s had experience in fighting crime almost his whole life, would be useless? Hell if he lost his powers he would be the equivalent of Batman. Despite the lack of gadgets, he is still very able to kick ass. Superman can think for himself no doubt about that.
When Superman lost his powers in the Justice League episode “Hereafter” he was sent to the future after an explosion. He makes camp one night and is menaced by a pack of wolf-like creatures. He manages to drive them away with fire. To prepare for any more dangers that lie ahead, he uses tools from the car to fashion an iron bar into a crude but effective sword. Before too long, his car is out of gas and he is forced to walk. Attacked that night by the creatures again, he kills their leader and subjugates the rest of the pack, harnessing them as sled dogs for a new improvised vehicle.
Do I need to go any further?
Basically, fuck that post. I’m not saying Wonder Woman is bad. I’m just saying there could have been better ways to get the message across.
