Every single time I make a joke about how Joker is a bad villain (and come on, obviously I’m joking), someone get mad and comes to me with that line “When other villains want to scare each other, they tell Joker stories.”

Okay so like honestly I cannot see either Scarecrow or Zsasz sitting around a circle talking about how scary Joker is. Now that I think about it, 90% of the villains would be like “Joker? That loser? I came closer to destroying Gotham than he ever has.”

I mean Joker’s henchmen for sure tell Joker stories but you honestly think Edward “10 minute monologue about himself” Nigma is gonna buy into his crap?

He killed Robin, did the whole thing with Barbara and Jim and the killing joke and actually made Batman kill him a few times. HE, THE JOKER, made BATMAN a KILLER. So you don’t think the villains will kinda be freaked out by the Joker? The man who killed Robin, psychologically tortured Jim Gordon, made Harley Quinn who is crazy almost as him? Paralyzed Batgirl? The only man in the world that if Batman will ever kill someone he would turn to a twisted version of him? The man who got the most complicated relationship with Batman? The man who tortured Tim Drake for three weeks and made him a lil Joker? The man who had 72738 opportunities to kill Batman but never did? And dont even let me start talking about the time he fucked up superman, the rest of the robins and all his twisted crimes (leaving babied to die? Poison glass? Laughing venom?) and there were some not canon stuff, but even the fact they exist says something about him. Yes, the Joker is the greatest villain in DC, if not in the whole comics world, but please, @missharleenfquinzel, don’t tell me villains think he is a loser or not scary, because if they do its before they heard about the things he done, so after that they will probably shit in their pants or take inspiration from him. Yes, scarecrow is scary and does scary things, but just because he intended to. But Even when Joker breaths its scary. Everything about him is scary. If you’ll look up to some comics, you’ll see that sometimes you can see the real scarecrow and he is nothing but a really scared, freaky and pathetic man. Scarecrow and the fear is his mask, but beneath that nothing scary at all. Everything about Joker is scary, and everyone knows it. Every villain got some kind of respect and fear him. Yes, some villains wont actually sit in a circle to say how scary he is because they got ego and a nose up in the sky, but inside all of them are shaking. I can imagine them sitting in Arkham and talking about the time Joker killed Robin or superman wife, and he is still alive! Come on, do me a favor.

I’m of the opinion that meanness is about the nature of the action, not awareness on the part of the target of the action.

Tricking them into closing their traps is actually harmful to them, since the energy expended in closing and then re-opening the trap isn’t replenished by having a tasty insect to digest.
