So I’m really upset right now.
A guy by the name of The Brightest Melancholy

Commissioned me on sunday and above are the screenshots of our conversation. I have never had anyone be this refund happy. In fact I haven’t had to issue any refund for any of my commissions. But I guess this is a first.
Despite approving the sketch about the numerous slight fixes to the commission he wanted a refund. He didn’t even think to ask if I could touch up or fix anything afterward. Went straight to wanting a refund.
Now, i immediately thought this guy was trying to scam me. I have no problems fixing things for a commissioner and i’m sure those who have commissioned me before will vouch for me on that.
I offer to fix what he wants and he tells me that he already sent what he wanted fixed.However he deleted it before I could see it. I thought that was pretty phishy and made it clear to him that whatever he sent, he deleted moments afterward, as I was busy actually working on his commission and could see it in time.
He resends it and I fix his edit to my sketch as precisely as humanly possible. He still wants a refund. Right here is when I called scam to myself. I knew he was trying to get the art and get the money back. The screenshots pretty much prove it.
- He immediately requested a refund without hesitation.
- He deleted his fix before I could see it.
- Despite these things being the only things left to fix he still makes an excuse to get the refund, despite not mentioning anything more to me during the process and saying he did.
- He refuses to have me fix anything else. Possibly because he has the completed art and just doesn’t want to pay.
- He THREATENS my livelyhood as an artist if I don’t refund, reporting that I refuse to refund is one thing, but reporting that it’s for adult material is scummy and really could ruin me.
Now, before you ask, I have refunded him at this point.
I’d love to say to not let people like this bully you into free art like this but there is not a single thing I can do about it.
If anyone like this wants to pay an invoice for your art, approve of everything until the very end and not let you fix it, then threaten to ruin your livelyhood as an artist. The truth is, they can and i’d rather not risk some scumbag ruining my life right now.
As for the scammer, please do not add him on skype to harass him or anything. I don’t want that. I just want any other artists to beware of this person. Stuff like this could happen to anyone who does commissions and it’s really, really unfortunate.
